Everything you need to know before applying to BWIS
To ensure a smooth admission process, please review the following requirements carefully. We have outlined the age criteria for each grade level, the academic records needed from previous schools, and all required documentation. Meeting these requirements will help us process your application efficiently.
Age Criteria
Minimum age requirements for each grade level as of September 1st
Early Years Foundation Stage

Special Considerations
- Students who do not meet the exact age criteria may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- A placement assessment will determine the appropriate grade level
- Previous academic performance and maturity level will be taken into account

Previous School Records
Academic documentation required from your current or previous school
We require comprehensive academic records to understand your child's educational background and ensure appropriate placement. All documents must be official copies from the school, properly signed and stamped.
Report Cards & Transcripts
Required:
- Last 2 years of academic report cards
- Complete grade transcripts
- Term-wise or semester-wise reports
- Subject-wise performance records
Format: Original or certified copies, properly signed by school authorities
Transfer Certificate
Required:
- Official transfer certificate (TC)
- School leaving certificate
- Date of admission and leaving
- Grade/class last attended
Note: Must be issued by the previous school on official letterhead
Academic Certificates
If Applicable:
- National examination certificates
- O-Level or equivalent certificates
- A-Level or equivalent certificates
- Any academic achievement awards
Format: Certified true copies of original certificates
Conduct & Character Certificate
Required:
- Character certificate from previous school
- Conduct and behavior records
- Attendance records
- Disciplinary record (if any)
Note: Should be recent (within last 3 months)
International Students
Additional Requirements:
- Curriculum details from previous school
- Grade equivalency documentation
- English language proficiency proof
- Certified translations (if not in English)
Note: All translations must be certified by authorized translators
Special Educational Needs
If Applicable:
- Educational psychologist reports
- Individual Education Plan (IEP)
- Learning support documentation
- Medical reports related to learning
Purpose: To provide appropriate support and accommodations
Required Documents
Complete checklist of all documents needed for admission
Please ensure all documents are submitted in the correct format. Incomplete applications may delay the admission process. All copies must be clear, legible, and certified where indicated.
Student Documents
Fill out all sections accurately and sign where required
Certified copy showing full name and date of birth
4 passport-size color photographs (white background)
For international students or those with dual citizenship
Copy of student's NIC or birth certificate number
Academic Documents
Last 2 years of report cards and transcripts
Official TC from previous school (if applicable)
Conduct certificate from previous school
O-Level, A-Level, or equivalent (if applicable)
Parent/Guardian Documents
National ID card or passport copies of both parents
Utility bill, lease agreement, or property deed
Completed emergency contact form with phone numbers
Medical Documents
Recent medical examination report from a registered physician
Complete vaccination certificate with all required immunizations
Completed form detailing allergies, conditions, and medications
Doctor's report for any special medical requirements (if applicable)
Financial Documents
Proof of payment for non-refundable application fee
Signed acknowledgment of fee structure and payment terms
Submission Guidelines
All copies must be certified as true copies by a notary public or authorized official
Documents in languages other than English must include certified translations
Submit documents in a clearly labeled folder with student's name
Ensure all documents are included before submission to avoid delays
