Primary Section (Grades 1 – 5) The Primary Section at BWIS Kandy follows the Cambridge Curriculum, which provides a strong foundation in key subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills through interactive and engaging learning methods. Students are encouraged to explore and discover knowledge through hands-on activities, project-based learning, and technology-integrated lessons. The holistic approach ensures that young learners develop not only academically but also socially and emotionally, fostering confidence and a lifelong love for learning. Secondary Section (Grades 6 – 11) For students in the Secondary Section, BWIS Kandy offers both the National Curriculum of Sri Lanka and the Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum, giving students the flexibility to choose an educational path that aligns with their academic goals and career aspirations. The Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) curriculum is globally recognized and designed to develop strong academic skills, independent learning, and analytical thinking. Subjects offered include English Language, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Business Studies, and other optional subjects. Students are prepared for the Cambridge IGCSE examinations, which serve as a gateway to further studies, including Cambridge International A Levels and other pre-university qualifications worldwide. Meanwhile, students following the National Curriculum are prepared for the GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examinations, following the guidelines set by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Education. The curriculum provides a solid foundation in core subjects while fostering essential skills required for higher education. Advanced Level (Grades 12 – 13) For students progressing to Advanced Level studies, BWIS Kandy offers both the National A/L Curriculum and the Cambridge International A Level (Advanced Level) Curriculum. The Cambridge International A Levels are globally recognized qualifications that provide an in-depth understanding of subjects, preparing students for university education both locally and internationally. The curriculum is designed to develop higher-order thinking, problem-solving abilities, and research skills. Students can choose from a variety of subjects, including Science, Mathematics, Business Studies, Economics, and other specialized areas based on their career goals. For students following the National Advanced Level (A/L) Curriculum, BWIS Kandy offers streams in Science and Commerce. The Science stream includes subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics, while the Commerce stream focuses on Accounting, Business Studies, and Economics. This program is designed to prepare students for the GCE A/L examinations, which serve as a gateway to higher education in Sri Lanka and abroad.
